“You can’t have your cake and eat it too!” This is true for so many situations isn’t it?
Think about this scenario for a moment. You are in a committed relationship (dating for a while or married), you realize your significant other is distant from you. Not as close as you once were. And then you find out that this person has been cheating on you. They are putting someone else in their life ahead of you. They are doting on this person, talking to them, dressing nice for them, spending alot of time with them. You have been put on the back burner, tossed to the side. You are just an afterthought and only when this person decides they can spare a few moments of their time for you. How would you feel? Hurt? Angry? Both? It is not okay to treat someone that way. If you are in a committed relationship you should be spending your time with that person.
So, how you do you think God feels when He is treated this way?
Was there a time in your life that you were on fire for God? You read His word and you spent time in prayer with Him? But, lately it seems like you just haven’t had time for those things? Can you not afford a set amount of time each day to spend with Him? Let me tell you something, you can’t afford not to!
Revelations 3:16 “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”
We can’t play church, pretend to love and serve God and then turn around and act like the rest of the world. We as Christians are supposed to be set apart. We are supposed to be different. If we are living for the world and then singing “Oh how I love Jesus” on Sundays, something is wrong!
Isaiah 29:13 ” And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,”
Check your heart. Pray and ask God to reveal to you where you are failing Him and where there is sin in your life. We must die to ourselves every day and ask God to fill us with His spirit.
Galations 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ”
Don’t let the world dictate your steps. Let God reign in your life. He wants all of you, not just the scraps and crumbs. Once you surrender it all to Him, you will have more freedom and more blessings than you could ever have living for the world!
